Freelance musician, educator and researcher based in Harrogate, UK.

about
I am a musician and teacher based in Yorkshire who works primarily as a bassist. I hold degrees from Durham University and Leeds Conservatoire, and am a qualified teacher.
I studied bass privately with Nick Campbell (Charlie Puth, Meghan Trainor, Vulfpeck) and Sam Vicary (The Cinematic Orchestra) while at Leeds Conservatoire. I have performed around the UK with original music projects, including Tramlines, Wilderness, We Out Here, Leeds Jazz Festival, Manchester Jazz Festival and EFG London Jazz Festival.
In 2025 I began studying for a PhD in Music Education at the Royal Northern College of Music, and at the start of next year I will take up a teaching position at a secondary school.

research
My PhD research is a collaborative studentship between the RNCM and Olympias Music Foundation, funded jointly by the RNCM and the Northern Consortium. The project looks at how to diversify the music teaching workforce, improving teacher training for musicians from Global Majority backgrounds, and improving the teaching of Global Majority musical traditions.
It follows on from the Global Music Teacher Training project in which three musicians from Global Majority backgrounds were employed by Olympias in 2024, and attended teacher training sessions at the RNCM throughout the year.
